Princesses Little Mermaid and Rapunzel were pleased to share many different stories and experiences of princesses from around the world. Princess Little Mermaid read a book about going on a safari and helped the kids count animals in Swahili. Princess Rapunzel brought fairy tales from around the world alive with animal props from the Ten Thousand Villages displays. The kids participated in playing with wooden tops and made a princess band with chimes, rattles, and bells. Everyone got a chance to recreate forest sounds on the bird whistles and frog and cricket instruments with the help of two beautiful angel fairies and a forest fairy. Princess Little Mermaid told the story of a Kenyan tree planting success that changed a community and the wellness of its people. The afternoon concluded with a tea party featuring fair trade Roobios Chai tea and Pakistani Green tea with cardamom in fancy china teacups. One little boy enjoyed the tea so much that he gulped down 7 cups full! It was a successful event and stay tuned for another tea party at Ten Thousand Villages Calgary South.
